I covered this before (see #4), but let me expound further on this placement because it’s not really covered as much. Also, I’ve seen a couple of misconceptions by ill-informed elements on here about it, so let me set the record straight on this placement as well:

More than anything, Mars, as a planet, represents the externalization of energy. With a mutable and mercurial sign such as Virgo, it’s important to highlight the fact that this placement can go either one of two ways: the native can be unsure and fueled by nerves, or the native can be invulnerable and poised. It all depends on whether or not Mars is a dominant planet, or more importantly, whether Mars is badly (or “roughly”, however you wanna phrase it) aspected or not.

Virgo Mars is a rather skilled and strategic placement, especially when not in retrograde. If Mars is in a challenging aspect or in retrograde, they can be as sensitive as any Cancer, naggy, and preoccupied with order. This is their way of externalizing the insecurity within themselves. However, if Mars is dominant and/or strongly aspected, they’re self-assured, competent, and a champion of quality work and attention to detail when it comes to work and sex.

sexuality: This part is important because not enough is covered about this facet of a Mars in Virgo. Their sexual drive may be somewhat repressed, and this is because their primal energy has a Mercurial filter applied to it, thus their energy is more mental and is channeled into work. I liken the sexuality of a Virgo Mars more to a snow-covered volcano, ready to erupt in the right situation and around the right person. They want to please and they want to serve and they do it very well. They have a sixth (house) sense when it comes to the body and what makes others tick sexually and when they’re in the mood, their attention to detail works well in this department as they can hit spots on a lover’s body that they never even knew they possessed and can easily blow someone’s mind and have them coming back for more. Unlike Gemini energy, their actions match their words.

work: Like any true earth sign, work is central to a Virgo Mars, as it proves their usefulness, which is important to them. Mars in Virgo natives will rarely remain unemployed, because they are usually able to turn at least one of their interests or talents into money. They’re great at managing (perhaps micromanaging) and overseeing other workers because of their high efficiency. Unfortunately, when externalizing their energy, this could mean that relations with their subordinates may not be so rosy, because they tend to drive them as hard as they drive themselves, and they can be very demanding, critical and intolerant of those who do not perform as well as they do. They’re flexible and versatile and good at almost everything, which inspires a lot of jealousy from others who aren’t nearly as deft or talented. Their work ethic is as fierce as their simmering sexuality and anger when provoked.

anger:  As far as their anger is concerned, they’re more irritable than angry and have a long fuse. Like any air sign, they consider anger beneath them and will rather have a superiority complex going on. However, they are not immune to anger and can have a rather volcanic temper, and their Mercurial facility with words becomes a fearsome weapon. They can be really cold, sarcastic, and insensitive. Sometimes they really don’t give a fuck about what you have to say. But, a high-level Virgo mars never lets their emotions get the best of them, maintains a cool head and always comes out on top. They have no need for infantile bombast and histrionics or passive-aggressiveness to get their point across like all the other Mars signs do (with the possible exception of Capricorn); they apply their rather strong will quietly, with subtlety.

Also, unlike other Mars signs, they can actually be very considerate when they want to be. They are overall quite impressive and others want to get in their good graces. A strong Virgo mars just cannot fake the way they feel so why pretend that they identify with the waifs and losers of the world? They’re long-distance winners.

fighting - feigned indifference; whether they feel differently inside or not, they pretend they don’t care about whether they win or lose and can actually win an argument by acting as if they are giving in without really agreeing, which robs others of power or influence by their “playing dead” posture

cancer:

fucking - emotionally expressive; the stuff of movies and love songs-vibrant, playful, erotic, high sex energy. uses sex to heal emotional conflicts, are experimental and take sexual risks, and has sexual fun and intensity.

fighting - passive-aggressive; they want power and control but they don’t go about obtaining it openly. plays games and often employs a submissive façade during the conflict and then employs vengeful tactics and harmful tit-for-tat payback games

leo:

fucking - direct and bossy; they’re straight forward about their sexual desires, and they’re be straight forward about their sexual limits or lack thereof. very much alpha males/females. likes to show off sexually and be adventurous and uninhibited. will do it almost anywhere luxurious and exotic. most likely to fuck in public

My brother was diagnosed with depression years before I was, and because of that he started therapy years before I did.

I still remember when I was a young teen and he was playing a Nirvana song and he stopped it at this one line: “I miss the comfort of being sad”

He told me that when you start to get better, there’s a part of you that misses being sad and that if you start feeling that way you have to be extra extra aware and careful because if you indulge the feeling you’ll go down a self-destructive spiral

And even though that was years and years ago, I think about it all the time. Especially when I’m reading discourse on the idea of getting so attached to mental illness as an identity that you don’t want to improve things because you feel safe in it and don’t know who you are without it

I always think of that line “I miss the comfort of being sad” and my brother’s warning
